  • कतिपय साथीहरूले बीबीसीले बदनीयतपूर्वक आफ्नो स्पष्टीकरण फेसबुकबाट हटायो भन्ने टिप्पणी गरिरहनु भएको देखियो। त्यसबारे अनावश्यकरूपमा बिबाद नतन्किरहोस् भनेर उक्त सन्देश हामीले केही घण्टा राखेर हटाएका हौं। सन्देश यस्तो थियो:

    बीबीसी नेपाली सेवाका कर्मचारी सुरेन्द्र फुयालको भएको भनिएको गैरवैवाहीक सम्बन्धका बारे विभिन्न समाचार माध्यम र सामाजीक संजालहरुमा भएको चर्चाका बारे बीबीसीको ध्यान आकृष्ट भएको छ। यो सम्पूर्ण प्रकरण अहिले अदालतमा विचाराधिन रहेकोले यस विषयमा हामी कुनै टिप्पणी गर्न सक्ने स्थितीमा छैनौं। र आफ्ना कर्मचारीको नीजी विषयहरुमा बीबीसीले हस्तक्षेप गर्ने गर्दैन।

      BBC Nepal’s remark in their Facebook Page is a clear example of irresponsible journalism which formulated that the case is purely a personal issue. The fact is that the i      ssue is a criminal case - already lodged with a court of law and it is on-going and nearing its dispositive stage. I am disappointed with BBC Nepal Head who is a public figure and a licensed journalist and broadcaster and who should be guided by the high standards of ethics. As a public figure, he is mandated to discuss and broadcast matters ONLY if he has complete personal knowledge and understanding and NOT through nuances or blind items and NOT through the public platform such as Facebook. As a journalist, he should respect freedom of speech and not remove the comments in BBC Facebook Page simply because it did not illicit positive reactions for BBC. The hundreds of people who reacted and said their piece prove that this issue transcends personal matter because it concerns Nepal’s national integrity and how the country views the fundamental rights of women to speak against violence. 

      I am fully aware that the other party has disseminated misleading information on a case which is pending on court and could be taken as an affront on the judge capability to try the case. Let them speak their story and let them prove that in court. In the process of them proving their version, I have been intimidated and my country has been degraded. But Filipino’s stature and the Filipino being a “MAN for OTHERS” has always been demonstrated in all parts of the globe. I have shared my selfless service to Nepal – all of which I have NOT spoken publicly (from donations to help paints schools in Gurkha, install toilets for Dalits in Dhading and helping children go to school – all from my personal fund). And it is painful to be accused of the wrong motives on why I fight for women’s rights in Nepal. I have spoken nothing but the TRUTH – simply because passitivity riles me. In the presence of evil, I have to SPEAK out. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “You can chain me, You can torture me, You can even destroy this body, but You will never imprison my mind”. My story is shaking the conscience of a society and my justice will uplift the plights of women who are reduced to a degree with lesser rights.

It will haunt you forever because you will be held accountable as equal as Surendra Phuyal because you try to cover up your colleague's disgustful deed. Well, I am disgusted with BBC and your true face under the mask. You violate the ethics, integrity of journalism. Shame!
